doi: 10.5505/jiasscience.2019.92486  Pages 7 - 11
The aim of this study was to examine examination of pre-competition anxiety levels of muay-thai athletes. The investigation grup was composed from 350 muay-thai athletes (320 male and 30 female) joining to Turkey interuniversity muay-thai championship in 2018-2019 season. The demographic information form and Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory developed by Spielberger et al.(1970) and adapted to Turkish language by Oner and La Comte (1983) were used as data collection tools for measuring stated-trait anxiety levels of athletes. According to analyze results, there was no significant difference in pre-competition state-trait anxiety levels of athletes in terms of age and weight variables but there was statistically significant difference among pre-competition state-trait anxiety levels of athletes in terms of sport age variable (p<0.05). Consequently, it might be said that the state-trait anxiety levels of athletes with higher sports age were lower and athletes with high sport experience were more successful in dealing with anxiety.

doi: 10.5505/jiasscience.2019.43534  Pages 12 - 16
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between proprioceptive sensory functions and body mass index parameters of football and volleyball players. 16 male football players and 16 male volleyball players between the ages 18 and 28, who have been certified players in a team and have not had a sports injury in the last five years, voluntarily participated in this research. In this study, body mass indexes (BMI) are figured out by measuring height and body weight (BW) and proprioceptive sense functions are measured by using TechnoBody PK-252 isokinetic balance system measurement device. Balance parameters are recorded as stability index (SI), average force variance (AFV) and average track error (ATE). In the study findings, it is observed that there is no meaningful correlation between the parameters for football players, though there is a negative meaningful correlation between BW and BMI values and ATE and SI values for volleyball players (p<0,05). Although there is not a difference between research groups’ proprioceptive sense functions and BMI values, there is a meaningful difference between groups’ body height and BW values in the course of comparing the groups. According to these results, it can be said that there is a correlation between some anthropometric data (BW, BMI) and proprioceptive sense functions. However, it is considered that the number of similar studies should be increased in order to reach a final judgement.

doi: 10.5505/jiasscience.2019.40085  Pages 17 - 23
The aim of this study was to investigate the sadness levels of students doing sports in terms of some variables. The study consisted of 237 students selected randomly (mean age = 14.01 ± 1.45), 91 girls and 146 boys studying in schools affiliated to Karaman Provincial Directorate of National Education in 2017-2018 academic year. In addition to the personal information form prepared by the researcher, as a data collection tool, Zeman et al. (2001), developed by Akin et al. (2014) “Child Sadness Management Scale was used. Skewness-Kurtosis normality distribution test was used to determine whether the measurements were suitable for normal distribution. As a result, t-test and One way - Anova tests were used. POST HOCK Sheff tests were used to determine the source of the difference. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program was used to evaluate the data. As a result of the study; while there is a statistically significant difference between gender variable and the general sadness management dimention and the deformation dimention from sub-dimensions and also between father education variable and the deformation dimention from sub-dimensions, No significant difference was found between the variables of age, family income and maternal education level and sadness management sub-dimensions.
